History
While growing up in Southeastern Nigeria, her provoking sociopolitical imbalances inspired a resolute humanitarian impulse in me. Each day widens the gulf between the haves and the have-nots. Stuck with persistent deprivations, these unfortunate sisters and brothers, mainly destitute widows, malnourished children, and homeless elderly, languish in wretchedness, hardships, chronic diseases, hunger, marginalization, and lack of basic human developmental opportunities. While the majority survive as beggars, the rest die off as a result of their brokenness. VINE seeks out these neediest humans in Africa and across the globe for prompt interventions.
In appreciation of a 100% scholarship funding for both masters and PhD programs at the University of Notre Dame, I considered it an ample opportunity to share my joys with a fraction of these deprived persons. Meagerly equipped with little savings, support from two family friends in the US, and a third from Nigeria, I sponsored a medical mission (vital organ checks, diagnosis, prognosis, eye examination, eye lenses, and routine / prescription drugs) in my hometown, which benefited over 250 people. In addition, a few people received staple foods, while some others enjoyed prepared meals for the one-month vacation stay in January 2019.

Consumed with the thoughtful desire to contribute to the alleviation of the miseries of these indigent people, I conceived the VINE Initiative on July 15, 2019, which has grown into a 13-person board membership. VINE is an acronym that stands for: “Volunteering to Intervene for the Neediest of the Earth,” and articulates the mission and vision of a life-saving humanitarian initiative.
VINE has a global mission with concentration in the African suburbs. VINE is committed to searching out, intervening, but also empowering identified unfortunate victims of destitution, by putting food on their tables, paying for their basic medical services, and sponsoring education and skills acquisition projects. A $25 donation can minimally feed a family of 5 for a whole week. Your donation today can save a life, through The VINE Initiative. Thank you for choosing to be that compassionate neighbor.
